Beam me up Scottie!
Rowan has successfully acquired an all singing all dancing brand new minibus with more gadgets on than the star ship Enterprise.
Thanks to various fund-raising projects throughout the last few years, Rowan now have access to a 17-seater Ford Transit minibus to enable students to enrich their experiences at Rowan. Its not like the old days of mini bus driving, Rowan students have arm rests, cup holders, USB charging points and even DAB radio...... Capital FM seems to be the students most popular radio station though staff like a bit of Classic FM.
The new mini bus is linked into the new and exciting Adventure days which have started this school year.
There is a programme of challenging and exciting activities to help students grow, explore and develop as well as improving their health and fitness. Already year groups have walked around Langsett Reservoir, Mam Tor in Edale and next week its Kinder Scout. Already the students are challenging themselves physically and mentally helping them turn into young adults who are prepared to overcome challenges..........and its good fun too.
Rowan are a school that thrives on developing students to their full potential and the new minibus is part of that process. Can we thank everyone who has helped with raising funds towards this and long may it continue. Gotta go now ....there's Klingons on the starboard bow...😁😁

SHOULD YOU SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL?
Face Coverings -
Secondary School Students only
As we are a very small school with narrow corridors we have decided (after reading the latest Government guidelines) that students in Y7 to Y11 should wear a face covering in communal areas and corridors (not classrooms).
School staff will also be wearing face coverings in these area's.
We ask that you provide your child with a plain mask style covering. This can be a reusable or disposable mask. Please see examples of the styles below.
Students should not wear snoods, masks with logo's, visors, scarfs and or bandannas.
Please contact us if your child is unable to wear a mask due to medical reasons.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

I am in a very privileged position and I am overwhelmingly proud to be the Headteacher of The Rowan Centre.
We support children from KS1 to KS4 and all students who attend Rowan have an EHCP. We place students and parents at the heart of all that we do, we offer education in a therapeutic, understanding, nurturing and progress driven environment.
We tell all of our students (and parents) that it is hard work attending Rowan, we expect a great deal! Everyone is expected to work as hard on their personal development as they are on their academic progress. We do not allow children to make excuses; we embrace their individuality and work with it. Children are not disadvantaged by attending Rowan, all areas of progress are good.
An Ofsted inspection was undertaken in March 2018 and we were judged to be a good provider and outstanding in the category of personal development, behaviour and welfare. The inspection report states that safeguarding practice at the school is exemplary as is behaviour. I wholeheartedly believe that I work with the best staff and students in Rotherham and the inspection findings validated this belief.
We have very high expectations and I am pleased to say that so many of our students come to school and try their very best to be ‘the best that they can be’ each and every day. Students have a very positive view of Rowan and they have a contagious enthusiasm for their learning. I could not be more proud of them and of the dedication of my colleagues who work alongside them. Together we make a great team!
